Pine Richland and Mars Area High Schools have Interact Clubs sponsored by
Rich-Mar Rotary, but are self-supporting and self-governing. These clubs
exist to develop leadership skills, promote personal integrity and foster
international understanding and goodwill. Contact your local High School
Guidance Office for more information about joining a local club.
A student from both Mars Area and
Pine-Richland High Schools are chosen as "Student of the Month" during the
school year and honored at the Rich-Mar Club meeting quarterly for their
achievements. Contact your high school guidance office for more
information on becoming one of the Rich-Mar Students of the Month.
Scholarship applications are distributed to Pine
Richland and Mars Area guidance departments in February of each year. This
program is advertised within each school and students are encouraged to obtain
one of these applications. The deadline for submission is late March.
Interviews are conducted by a Rich-Mar Rotarian committee with the top
candidates in early April; winners are notified and awards presented by their
schools in May.
Each year three Junior level students are
chosen from Pine Richland and Mars High Schools by a Committee of Rich-Mar
Rotarians for their leadership potential and community service record to
represent the club. They join with others from Western Pennsylvania in June
for week long program of leadership training at Westminster College through
the Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) program. Find out more by contacting
your high school guidance office. More
